IRVINE, CA and DAVIS, CA--(Marketwire - November 17, 2010) - On Tuesday, November 16, 2010, CleanTech OC, a collaborative, multi-disciplinary trade association promoting economic growth in the Orange County clean technology industry, announced California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as the recipient of the 2010 CleanTech OC Visionary Award. The award was presented by CleanTech OC Co-Chair Gregory Trimarche during the final session of the Governors' Global Climate Summit 3 at the University of California, Davis.

The CleanTech OC Visionary Award was created to honor one individual whose contributions have made a dramatic impact on the clean tech industry in Orange County and throughout California. "Under Governor Schwarzenegger's leadership, California has passed groundbreaking legislation and has positioned itself as a leader in innovation and economic growth in the renewable energy and clean technology sectors for years to come," said Trimarche.

In addition to presenting Governor Schwarzenegger with his award, on Monday, November 15, CleanTech OC co-hosted a reception at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Sacramento that highlighted the continuing growth of the clean tech industry in California and the partnership of various clean tech organizations to achieve mutually beneficial public policy goals. Speakers included California Air Resources Board Chairman Mary Nichols, California Environmental Protection Agency Secretary Linda Adams, and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. The event was sponsored by several clean tech associations throughout California, including CleanTech OC, CleanTECH San Diego, Clean Tech Los Angeles, the Bay Area Council, the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Greenwise Sacramento, and the Green Technology Leadership Group. These organizations will work in the months ahead to create a California Clean Tech Leadership Council whose first meeting will be held on January 25, 2011 in Los Angeles.
