Governor Gary Johnson, Melissa Etheridge, Danny Glover, Hal Sparks, Other Activists Speak Out October 21 to Support Marijuana Legalization

Pre-BUDDHAFEST Press Conference to Raise Awareness in Final Days Before Vote on California Prop 19

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - October 19, 2010) -  An esteemed group of celebrities, activists and public servants will speak out on the issue of marijuana legalization at a press conference at Ivan Kane's Café Was in Hollywood Thursday, October 21st from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Speakers include multi-platinum, Grammy-winning musician Melissa Etheridge; actor Danny Glover; actor/comedian Hal Sparks; former Governor of New Mexico and Honorary Chairman of the Our America Initiative, Governor Gary Johnson; former LAPD Deputy Chief Steve Downing; BUDDHAFEST organizer and longtime activist Brian Roberts; and marijuana legalization advocate, Sarah Lovering from the Marijuana Policy Project. Filmmaker Melissa Balin will moderate the conference, where speakers will explain why they believe NOW is the time to legalize marijuana for responsible adults age 21 and over by passing California's Prop 19 to regulate, control and tax marijuana.

THC Expose is hosting the press conference to raise media and celebrity awareness for the first-annual BUDDHAFEST being held on Saturday, October 23, 2010 from noon to 2am at the Los Angeles Center Studios in downtown Los Angeles. This music and peace gathering aims to raise awareness for cannabis and its many uses through ten staging areas featuring live music, DJs, art installations, guest speakers, comedians, poets, roaming performers, trade show exhibits, and a gourmet food court featuring 20 of L.A.'s finest food trucks. Every inch of BUDDHAFEST'S massive compound will inspire the mind and stimulate the senses.

Though BUDDHAFEST does not take a position for or against Prop 19, it endeavors to be a neutral space where people can hear all sides of the debate in order to make their own decision. The live webcast will capture the highlights of the event and stream a "soap box" debate where supporters and opponents of Prop 19 can express their views.

This year's BUDDHAFEST is also home to the 2010 Jack Herer Awards, honoring Outstanding Achievement in Hemp Awareness in the various fields of Fuel, Food, Fiber, Paper, Alternative Plastics and Medicine, since 2004. Find this year's nominees at
