Governor General of Canada/Citizen Voices Officially Honoured by the Webby Awards and The Earth: A Special Guest on Citizen Voices

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 20, 2007) - Citizen Voices is being officially honoured by the Webby Awards. Launched seven months ago by Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Jean-Daniel Lafond, the Web site was recognized in the Government category of the 11th annual Webby Awards, the Oscars of the Internet. Other honorees in the same category include the City of Barcelona, the New Zealand Parliament, and the US Marines. The best Web sites from over 60 countries were honoured at an international ceremony, and Citizen Voices was chosen from among the over 8,000 sites submitted to the jury.

Additionally, Governor General Michaelle Jean is launching a discussion on Earth Day on Citizen Voices and is publishing a special blog.

The Governor General looks forward to hearing from you on some of these issues related to Earth Day:

"Is it possible to think and act ecologically in our every day life? How can we integrate green ethics in our communities? What are our collective responsibilities towards the environment? I look forward to hearing from you," said the Governor General in her blog.

A forum will also be held at Citizen Voices. The topic of discussion: What are your sustainable solutions for the planet?

Finally, Citizen Voices is honoured and proud to welcome guest blogger Jacques Languirand, an Officer of the Order of Canada, a prolific and versatile communicator and an author. Mr. Languirand will share his thoughts on Earth Day.
