Governor General Connects With Canadians on Live Chat

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 20, 2007) - Canadians are invited to join in a unique experience with the Governor General. On September 27, 2007, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean will host a live chat on (Citizen Voices). The day marks the site's first anniversary, as well as the second anniversary of the Governor General's installation. Youth organizations from across the country are planning to get together for the live chat on CitizenVoices.

From 7-8 p.m. (EST), Canadians will discuss this question: If you could change one thing, what would it be?

"I've always told myself that we needed to find the way to continue all the conversations that are initiated and talk about the ideas and projects I've been witness to along the way. Everywhere I've gone, I've heard of this desire for contact with others in Canada. CitizenVoices is a wonderful tool to encourage this type of dialogue between us," explained the Governor General.

Over the past year, Citizen Voices has provided Canadians with a platform to sound off on a variety of issues and topics, including citizen engagement, youth, women and the arts. Visitors have had the opportunity to read Her Excellency's blogs, exchange comments on forums, and even follow the Governor General as she concluded her official visits to Canadian provinces and territories and visited foreign countries. During State visits to African countries and to Brazil, the Governor General blogged about her experiences and members of the delegation contributed with daily dispatches. Viewers were also invited to tune in to live web casts of events and key speeches, as well as video blogs.

CitizenVoices was an official honouree of the 2007 Webby Awards.
