Governor General to Honour 36 Canadians for Acts of Bravery

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 12, 2007) - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will present 36 Decorations for Bravery at a ceremony at Rideau Hall, on Friday, June 15, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. The decorations include one Star of Courage and 35 Medals of Bravery.

The Decorations for Bravery were created in 1972. The Cross of Valour is awarded for acts of the most conspicuous courage in circumstances of extreme peril; the Star of Courage is awarded for acts of conspicuous courage in circumstances of great peril; the Medal of Bravery is awarded for acts of bravery in hazardous circumstances.
