Governor General to Invest 50 Individuals Into the Order of Military Merit

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 18, 2009) - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, announced today the appointment of 50 members of the Canadian regular and reserve forces to the Order of Military Merit. The recipients will receive their insignia during an investiture ceremony at Rideau Hall, on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

The Order of Military Merit was created in 1972 to recognize meritorious service and devotion to duty by members of the Canadian Forces. The Order has three levels of membership: Commander (C.M.M.), Officer (O.M.M.) and Member (M.M.M.). The ceremony includes the appointment of three commanders, 16 officers and 31 members.
