Governor General to Invest 58 Individuals Into the Order of Military Merit

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 23, 2009) - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, announced today the appointment of 58 members of the Canadian regular and reserve forces to the Order of Military Merit. The recipients will receive their insignia during an investiture ceremony at Rideau Hall, on Thursday, June 25, 2009, at 11:00 a.m.

The Order of Military Merit was created in 1972 to recognize meritorious service and devotion to duty by members of the Canadian Forces. The Order has three levels of membership: Commander (C.M.M.), Officer (O.M.M.) and Member (M.M.M.). The ceremony will include the appointment of two commanders, 12 officers and 44 members.
