Grand Canyon University Executive Named Arizona CFO of the Year

Dan Bachus Recognized by Peers in Fourth Annual Awards Program

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - November 8, 2010) -  The Arizona chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI) recently named Grand Canyon University (GCU) Chief Financial Officer Dan Bachus CFO of the Year in the small public company category. Known as one of the financial architects instrumental in shaping the turnaround of Grand Canyon University, Bachus was chosen among seven other finalists for the recognition.

"Dan is a key figure on our executive leadership team, and this is a terrific way of recognizing his contributions to our growing company and to his profession," said GCU CEO Brian Mueller. Mueller has worked side-by-side with Bachus over the past two-and-a-half years, as GCU's prominence and financial stability has evolved.

In 2008, GCU had rebounded from financial difficulties and its owners were thinking of taking it public. But they needed a new management team experienced at running a public company and expanding an institution of higher learning. Bachus' role proved critical.

In the past two and a half years, Bachus has been instrumental in a wide range of activities, including the University's $145 million Initial Public Offering, its $114 million Follow-On Offering and its $100 million campus expansion.

As chief financial officer, Bachus is lauded for personal qualities that have contributed to GCU's continued success. He is noted for his integrity and ethics, his student-oriented attitude and strong communication skills. "I thoroughly enjoy being actively involved in shaping the vision of a dynamic, visionary company such as Grand Canyon University, and I believe all companies benefit greatly from strong financial leadership."
