PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - March 16, 2011) - Grand Canyon University has launched a new package of articles, webinars and other professional development resources for teachers through an online portal hosted on Scholastic.com.

"We're excited to present this valuable new resource to educators through the vibrant Scholastic.com community -- to share the knowledge of our faculty experts and what we have learned over the years to enhance the abilities of teachers and administrators," said Grand Canyon University Provost Cheri St. Arnauld.

The microsite www.scholastic.com/yourpurpose will contain content relevant to educators, including articles, live webinars, continuing education and professional development opportunities.

"Grand Canyon University was founded more than 60 years ago to provide a strong educational foundation for teachers," St. Arnauld said. "Over the years we have maintained high standards for our faculty and our graduates, and with this Scholastic.com portal, we can extend our reach to the more than three million educators and administrators who are looking to improve their skills."

According to Education Market Research, there are an estimated 2.8 million K-12 teachers and 300,000 administrators in the United States, teaching in almost 17,500 school districts. With the tremendous pressure on schools and administrators to improve student performance, resources such as Scholastic.com have grown tremendously in use and reach. Scholastic.com is a preferred online educational resource for teachers, with more than 2.2 million unique visits and more than 30 million page views per month.
