Grand Falls-Windsor -- Free Public Skin Cancer Screening Clinic Will Be Held at Exploits Valley Mall on Saturday, October 17th as Part of the Canadian Dermatology Associations Sun Awareness Program

OTTAWA, ON--(Marketwired - October 06, 2015) - Organized as part of the Canadian Dermatology Association's Sun Awareness Program, Grand Falls-Windsor dermatologist, Dr. James Coffey, will be hosting a free public skin cancer screening clinic at Exploits Valley Mall. This will educate individuals on the importance of early detection and prevention of all skin cancers and demonstrate how to conduct an at home self-exam.

Background:

  • Skin cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in Canadians. It is also the most common cancer in the world.
  • It is estimated that in 2015 6,800 Canadians will be diagnosed with melanoma.
  • Up to 70% of all melanomas are first identified by the patient themselves (53%) or close family members (17%).
