Grand Prairie Dentist Teaches Kids About Dental Health Professions

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX --(Marketwired - February 24, 2016) - Carrier Family Dental, a leading family dental practice, recently attended a local elementary school for a special career day in January.

Dr. Harita Kodali, who operates Carrier Family Dental, visited Florence Hill Elementary School with members of her hygiene department to discuss career options in oral health and to remind kids about best oral hygiene practices.

"It gave us a chance to meet with young students and teach them about the importance of dental hygiene," Dr. Kodali said. "It can be intimidating for children to visit the dentist, so when we step into their world, they get familiar with us and feel more comfortable the next time they visit a dental office."

The Carrier Family Dental dental team spent the career day discussing the different types of jobs available in dentistry and told students how they could achieve a career in the dental field.

Dr. Kodali said she shared her personal story about what made her want to become a dentist to the more than 100 students who attended the career fair. The office also passed out toothbrushes and floss and gave the children information about how to prevent cavities and other serious dental problems.

"So many young students want to pursue a career that helps people in need, and dentistry is the perfect place for that," Dr. Kodali said. "We spoke with so many bright and ambitious youngsters during the career day. Who knows how many of those kids will go on to become dentists, dental hygienists or dental assistants?"

Carrier Family Dental, which recently hit its two-year anniversary, provides general dentistry and comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages. Individual services include sedation dentistry, Invisalign, porcelain veneers, crowns and full and partial dentures. Dr. Kodali uses mini dental implants to stabilize dentures.

Implants not only stabilize oral appliances but also help preserve a patient's jawbone.

Carrier Family Dental -- 355 E. Westchester Pkwy., Ste. 200 -- works diligently to ensure that all patients are comfortable during their treatment. To help fearful patients, Dr. Kodali offers a variety of sedation options, including nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation and IV sedation. IV sedation can benefit patients with a debilitating fear of the dentist or those who need multiple treatments in one sitting.

Dr. Kodali graduated with honors from Boston University Goldman School of Dentistry in 2007. After graduating, Dr. Kodali worked in private practice for four years and then worked with special needs patients at the Texas State Supported Living Center in Denton. She began her own practice in March 2014, but she still continues to work with the Texas State Supported Living Center.

Dr. Kodali was named one of America's Top Dentists in 2014 by the Consumers Research Council of America.

To ensure that all patients are getting the care they need, Dr. Kodali offers free second opinions at her Dallas-area dental office. To learn more about Dr. Kodali's Grand Prairie cosmetic dentistry, visit her website at or call 972-619-9108.
