ROUYN-NORANDA, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Jan. 8, 2014) - Canada Economic Development
The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that the Grand Prix international Snowcross has been granted financial assistance from the Harper government to promote its January 2014 and 2015 editions and help attract tourists from Ontario and the United States to the world-class event.
This assistance, granted in the form of a $101,745 non-repayable financial contribution, has been awarded through Canada Economic Development's Quebec Economic Development Program.
- The Grand Prix international Snowcross, the only event of its kind in Quebec, will take place January 17, 18, and 19, 2014, in Rouyn-Noranda with world-class snowmobile races that are sure to delight fans of the sport. A commercialization strategy was put in place to promote the event through various media, including radio, the Web, television and specialty magazines.
- A portion of the contribution from the Government of Canada already went to ensuring organizers were able to participate in this past October's Toronto International Snowmobile, ATV & Powersports Show.
"By funding the Grand Prix international Snowcross, our government is showing its commitment to encouraging the growth of tourism, a profitable sector for the Quebec economy, in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region," said Minister Lebel.
