Grand Prize Winner Announced for Cakewalk, Intel, and "Superstars" Songwriting Competition

After 6 months, With 5,900 Artists Submitting 13,000 Songs in 6 Categories, and With Over 200,000 Votes, Sara Lindsay is the $10,000 Cash Grand Prize Winner

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - January 6, 2011) - Cakewalk, the world's leading developer of powerful and easy to use products for music creation and recording, Intel Corporation, and the preeminent online community-powered, new music discovery site,, announced the grand prize winner of the "Superstars" songwriting competition.

Over the last six months, the Superstars Songwriter Competition attracted 5,900 artists, submitting 13,000 songs in six categories, with over 200,000 fan votes cast, the grand winner is Sara Lindsay with her song "Best of Me"

The $10,000 cash grand prize will be awarded January 6th at the Intel Experience Pavilion (booth #7153) at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Selection of the grand prize winner was determined by an esteemed panel of judges including: Kristin Bredimus, Director of Community & Content,, Bruce Tyler (former EVP Sony Music), Mike Rivet, Intel Corporation, Jimmy Landry Artist Relations/Cakewalk (former A&R, EMI and Capitol Records) Rev. MOOSE (VP of Content, CMJ Network), and Jason Jordan (V P, A&R Hollywood Records).

The "Superstars" Songwriter Competition kicked in July 2010 and invited artists to submit original music in six music genres: Rock, Pop, Country, Singer-Songwriter, Urban, and Latin. Fans of Intel's Facebook page and voted on the submitted tracks and the top five ranked artists from each genre were awarded over $50,000 in prize packages, including Intel® Core-processor based computers, Cakewalk SONAR Producer Software, V-Studio 100 & V-Studio 20 recording solutions, and promotion to the millions of and Intel fans. The top 20 ranked artists from each genre were then automatically entered into the Intel "Superstars" Finals Competition for a chance to win a $10,000 cash prize. The three final tracks selected were then judged on (i) presentation; (ii) originality and creativity; (iii) melody, vocal ability and music; (iv) lyrics; and (v) entertainment value.
