Granite Hill Estates to Hold Third Annual Big Band Bash

Free and Open to the Public, the Bash Has Become a Summertime Highlight

HALLOWELL, ME--(Marketwire - Jul 26, 2011) - Granite Hill Estates (GHE), the Kennebec Valley's premier continuing care retirement community, will conduct its Third Annual Big Band Bash on Saturday, August 13, 2011, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. The rain date is August 14.

"When we started Big Band Bash in 2009, we had no idea it would catch on to the extent it has," said Kathy Jorgensen, GHE's Executive Director. "Between the beauty of the location and the music of the Al Corey Orchestra, it's become a kind of destination event. The larger Hallowell/Augusta community has become engaged and looks forward to it every year. And it's an indication that classic music, traditional dancing, and the joys of friendship and celebration are timeless."

The Al Corey Orchestra has been entertaining Central Maine for more than 50 years with the music that was popularized in the 1940s. For more than 20 consecutive years, they showcased the Governor's Ball, playing the tunes of the Glenn Miller and Count Basie Orchestras. Their repertoire includes such tunes as "One O'clock Jump," "Moonlight Serenade," and "In the Mood." The Big Band Bash, as always, will take place outdoors, under the stars.

To get to Granite Hill Estates, take exit 109 from the south or 109B from the north off I-95 (Winthrop). Head west on Route 202. Take a left onto Edison Drive. GHE is on the right.
