Granite Hill Estates to Welcome Acrylic Painter, Robert L. Page

Hobbyist Turned Artist to Appear on November 30, Exhibit Through December.

HALLOWELL, ME--(Marketwire - Nov 9, 2011) - Granite Hill Estates (GHE), the Kennebec Valley's premiere continuing care retirement community, welcomes Hallowell-based painter, Robert L. "Bob" Page, as part of its ongoing Art for Life series. Bob's exhibit is in the lobby of the Maine Lodge, and he will appear in a Meet the Artist session on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at 4:00 p.m.

"Bob Page is one of those rare people who's cultivated his left-side mind -- logic and analytical thinking -- as well as his right-side mind -- expressiveness and creative thinking," said Kathy Jorgensen, Granite Hill's executive director. "We're as amazed at his work as we are grateful that he and Melda are Granite Hill residents."

Born in Belgrade, Maine, Bob has lived at Granite Hill, with his wife, Melda, since 2006. After graduating as Valedictorian of his Belgrade High School class, he attended Tufts University, earning a B.S. in Physics, a minor in Math; an M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Maine; and a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at Florida State University. After three years in the U.S. Navy, Bob spent 40 years teaching, 38 of those at the college level. He retired from the University of Maine at Augusta as Professor Emeritus. Bob began to dabble in art in high school, first trying oil paints in the Navy. After being discharged, he found acrylics more to his liking and is especially fond of nature scenes.
