Grantham University Honors 774 Graduates in 2009 Graduation Ceremony in Kansas City

Commencement Key Note Speaker Is Missouri State Representative Jason Brown; Other Distinguished Guests Include Dr. Mark Skousen, Economist and Author and Outstanding Graduate Walter "Cal" Smith

KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwire - June 25, 2009) - Grantham University (www.grantham.edu), an online university serving working adult students around the world, will hold its second Commencement Ceremony since relocating to Kansas City in 2005. Grantham's Commencement will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 27 at the KCI-Expo Convention Center, 11730 NW Ambassador Drive in Kansas City, Missouri.

"Since Grantham's programs and courses are all completely online, our students and graduates rarely have the chance to interact with staff and faculty in person," said John LaNear, PhD, president of Grantham University. "Not only is commencement a special time for our graduates and their family members, it is an exciting time for Grantham faculty and staff because they get to meet face-to-face with the students they've motivated and encouraged throughout their degree programs."

Graduates will be arriving in Kansas City from all over the country and the world to walk across the stage and receive their diplomas; graduate students will participate in a hooding ceremony. One graduate will be traveling from St. Lucia to receive his Master of Business Administration (MBA). The ceremony will also include remarks from Walter "Cal" Smith, Grantham's outstanding graduate of the year.

Most students attending the commencement ceremony are active duty service members, veterans or retired military. Seventy-four graduates will be recognized and more than 400 family members and guests will be in attendance.

Missouri State Representative Jason Brown is this year's keynote speaker. Dr. Mark Skousen, economist, professor, financial advisor, and author will introduce the outstanding graduate. Grantham University's provost, Dr. Cynthia Hoss, will recognize two faculty members who have demonstrated outstanding teaching skills in the past year at Grantham.

Grantham University offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Business Management, General and Multidisciplinary Studies, Computer Science, and other technology related fields.
