Grantham University President Invited by The Educational Policy Institute to Host Webinar

Webinar Will Provide Strategies and Best Practices for Educational Institutions

KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwire - June 5, 2009) - Grantham University (, an online university serving working adult students around the world, today announced its president, John LaNear, Ph.D., was invited to host a Webinar for The Education Policy Institute titled "Success Strategies for Proprietary Institutions." The Webinar will be held on Wednesday, June 10 at 2 p.m. Eastern/1 p.m. Central/noon Mountain/11 a.m. Pacific.

"I will present a number of strategies and best practices employed by for-profit institutions to achieve academic and operational success," said Dr. John LaNear, president of Grantham University. About the Speaker:

Dr. LaNear is the President of Grantham University. Most recently, he served as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Ellis University. Prior to joining Ellis University, Dr. LaNear was the Vice President responsible for the Education and Nursing programs at Kaplan University. Dr. LaNear has extensive experience creating, building and improving educational organizations. He served as the inaugural director of Webster University's Ozarks Regional Campus in Springfield, Missouri and was responsible for launching the Schools of Education at Argosy University's Chicago and Chicago Northwest Campuses. Over the course of his career, Dr. LaNear has served as a faculty member, department chair, vice president of academic affairs, campus director and in various other administrative roles in both private and public, for-profit and not-for-profit colleges and universities in Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin. Dr. LaNear earned both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned the Dissertation of the Year Award from the Education Law Association in 2005.

He earned his B.A. in English from Missouri State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law, where he served as an editor for the UMKC Law Review and was a member of the UMKC Moot Court Board and the Order of Barristers.
