Graylog Adds Log Management Support for MongoDB

Open Source Log Management Platform Helps Resolve DevOps Database Performance Issues Better, Faster, and at Lower Cost

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - Nov 12, 2015) - Graylog, Inc., the company behind the popular Graylog open source log management platform, today announced its MongoDB plug-in. The new Graylog plug-in for MongoDB integrates directly with the MongoDB database profiler to collect, parse, normalize, and aggregate log events from the profiler -- enabling Graylog's search and analysis tools to help easily find and fix issues. The free MongoDB plug-in is available immediately at marketplace.graylog.org. Read Graylog's MongoDB Blog at http://bit.ly/1lkcD8d

The MongoDB database profiler was designed as an event log to help Dev and Ops teams troubleshoot MongoDB performance issues. But with potentially millions of events written to the profiler each day, identifying problematic queries by hand is like trying to find the proverbial needle in a haystack. The Graylog Plug-in for MongoDB helps Dev and Ops teams perform database performance troubleshooting making it easy to collect, centralize, and analyze the contents of the profiler. Additional features include:

  • Seamless integration with the MongoDB database profiler for easy install and config
  • Visual analysis of query performance used to quickly pinpoint slow running queries
  • Query "fingerprinting" to help identify common query types that are causing performance issues
  • Configurable alerts to notify when database performance is degrading
  • Full application stack visibility when used in conjunction with other Graylog plug-ins

"Graylog has legions of loyal fans who have adopted the DevOps mindset for a reason," said Michael Sklar, CEO of Graylog. "We make it easy and affordable for AppDev teams to troubleshoot performance issues during the development process. Then Graylog can also be used by IT Ops teams to keep the application stack running smoothly once deployed to production. Instead of operating in silos, AppDev and IT Ops teams can use the same tool to communicate more effectively, and the best part -- the software is free and open source."

Graylog's enterprise-grade platform enables organizations to store, search and analyze machine data collected from their IT infrastructures and applications to quickly pinpoint the root cause of problems. Graylog provides paid services and support to make it even easier for enterprises to deploy this affordable alternative to expensive log analysis tools such as Splunk.
