Great Christmas Getaway Starts on Thursday

22 December Predicted As Busiest Day for Christmas Travel

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Dec. 21, 2011) - National Express on 19 December 2011 reported that Thursday 22 December will be the busiest day for its coaches on the roads this Christmas. Extra coaches are being added to the network everyday and more than 15,000 extra seats have already been laid on across the country in response to increased demand.

And for those who haven't yet booked their travel home, National Express is continuing to increase the number of coach seats available with coach travel to London, London Heathrow Airport and Birmingham currently topping the charts.

For people travelling to airports for warmer or snowier climates, Saturday 17 December is the busiest day over Christmas closely followed by 27 December.

Across the National Express UK network, a normal service will operate everyday apart from Boxing Day and New Years Day when a slightly reduced coach timetable will operate. On Christmas Day services will operate into Scotland and on the Hotel Hoppa linking hotels with the terminals at Heathrow airport.

Andrew Cleaves, Managing Director, National Express coach comments: "We're driving people home for Christmas in comfort and safety - everybody is guaranteed a seat and we have plenty of space to store Christmas presents."

"Our 24 hour control centre will work closely the Highways Agency if any adverse weather conditions prevail to keep Britain moving. There are still seats available on many coach services and extra coaches are being added to cater for demand."
