Great Quest Intersects 14.50 m of 5.42 Grams Per Tonne Gold

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - May 24, 2006) - Willis W. Osborne, President of Great Quest Metals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:GQ), is very pleased to announce results of assays on core from drill holes KN 18-06 to KN 23-06 in the 2006 drill program on the Djambaye 2 gold zone in the Kenieba gold concession, western Mali, West Africa. Below are the results:

KN 18-06 was spotted 35 m east of KN 17-06 and drilled under it. KN 19-06 was spotted 35 m east of KN 18-06 and drilled under it. KN 20-06 was spotted 85 m west of KN 17-06 and drilled east at -50 degrees. This was done to make certain that there were no zones dipping to the west. Nothing of significance was intersected. KN 21-06 was spotted 95 m south of KN 18-06 and 35 m southeast of KN 07-05 and drilled under KN 07-05. KN 22-06 was spotted 105 m south of KN 21-06 and 35 m east of KN 05-05 and drilled under it. The cross-section of KN 03-05 and KN 05-05 was the least mineralized cross-sections of all those in 2005. So far, in 2005 and 2006, 27 holes have been drilled west or northwest into the easterly dipping Djambaye 2 gold zone, and 26 have intersected the zone.

Starting with KN 23-06, the next 14 holes are to be drilled south of the 2005 drilling. Six sets of 2 drill holes each will be drilled at 6 locations along the Djambaye 2 zone over a length of 700 m south of the southern limit of the 2005 drilling. Following that, 2 of the sets will have a third hole added for 3-hole cross-sections. KN 23-06 was spotted 115 m south of hole KN 03-05 and drilled to 315 degrees at -50 degrees. This hole intersected mainly gabbro within the zone and only 2, 15-cm-wide, occurrences of rhyodacite. The gabbro does have alteration and anomalous gold (0.37 g/t gold over 13.35 m) which shows that it was intruded before the completion of the mineralizing sequence(s) but, at least in KN 23-06, it is not a good host.

So far, in addition to KN 23-06, 7 holes have been completed south of the 2005 drilling. All holes have intersected the rhyodacite-diorite zones. Unlike the situation in the northern half of the length covered by the 2005 drill program where the diorite and rhyodacite dykes are separated, the dykes in the 7 holes so far drilled are contiguous. In one case, 4 rhyodacite dykes are separated by 3 diorite dykes.

The drill core samples were submitted to Abilab Afrique d'l'Ouest SARL (Abilab) which is located in Bamako, Mali. Most of the samples were assayed by means of fire assay with atomic absorption finish. Where visible gold was seen, the assays were completed through pulp metallic sieve analysis which is a more thorough method that helps to reduce the problems associated with the nugget effect of coarse gold. Carl Verley (P. Geol.), the Qualified Person pursuant to NI 43-101, has reviewed the contents of this news release.
