Great Western Minerals Group Ltd.: Geophysics Picks up New Conductors at Hoidas Lake

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 1, 2005) - Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:GWG) (OTCBB:GWMGF):

Gary Billingsley, President, reports that ground geophysics completed at the Company's 100%-owned Hoidas Lake rare earth project in northern Saskatchewan, has identified two new geophysical conductors located approximately 500 metres northwest of the main JAK Zone. Parallel and similar to the conductor associated with the rare earth enriched JAK Zone, the longer of the two new conductors has been traced for over 1,500 metres. Drilling will be necessary to confirm that the new conductors host rare earth mineralization similar to that found in the JAK Zone.

Should the new conductors prove to host rare earth mineralization, it could significantly add to the tonnage potential in the immediate area of the main JAK Zone, where drilling is currently underway.

The rare earth elements are key components of many alternate energy applications including the rechargeable batteries and permanent magnet motors used in hybrid vehicles.
