Government of Canada provides financial support for the Musee mineralogique et minier de Thetford Mines


THETFORD MINES, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - April 10, 2014) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development, Minister for La Francophonie, and Member of Parliament (Mégantic-L'Érable), today announced $15,000 in funding for the Musée minéralogique et minier de Thetford Mines. He made this announcement on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelley Glover.

This Government of Canada has provided this funding through the Exhibition Circulation Fund of the Museums Assistance Program. The funding is allowing the museum to present Marc-Aurèle Fortin: Paysages modernes du Québec traditionnel (Modern Landscapes of Traditional Quebec), a travelling exhibit on the work of Quebec painter Marc-Aurèle Fortin.

  • The exhibit Marc-Aurèle Fortin: Paysages modernes du Québec traditionnel, presented by the Musée minéralogique et minier de Thetford Mines from February 15 to May 11, 2014, is a production of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec.

  • This travelling exhibit consists of some 30 rural and maritime scenes painted in oil or gouache by Marc-Aurèle Fortin from the 1910s to the 1950s.
