Greater Philadelphia Tuskegee Airmen Executive to Deliver Remarks at 21st Annual Original Richard Allen Committee, Inc. Senior Citizens Banquet

Richard Kydd, Son of George H. Kydd, B-25 Pilot of the Tuskegee Airmen, Will Give Keynote Address

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwired - October 23, 2013) - More than 100 senior citizen residents of Gladys B. Jacobs Manor, a development of the Philadelphia Housing Authority, along with caretakers, family members, friends and "Original Richard Allen" members, are expected to attend the 21st Annual Senior Citizens Banquet, hosted by The Original Richard Allen Committee, Inc. (ORAC), on Saturday, October 26, at 1:00pm, at the Gladys B. Jacobs Manor, 1100 Fairmount Avenue, here.

This year, Richard Kydd, vice president, Greater Philadelphia Chapter Tuskegee Airmen, and, son of Tuskegee Airmen bomber pilot, George H. Kydd, will deliver the keynote address, speaking on the legacy of these historic military aviators, and issues related to Philadelphia's aging population. Kydd is a former School District of Philadelphia educator and an alumnus of Central High School and the Pennsylvania State University (PSU). He is also a member of Grace Baptist Church, where he teaches Adult Men's Sunday School class, and participates in the Men's Ministry of Grace and the Evangelism Outreach Ministry.

Kydd has contributed a DVD version of the Tuskegee Airmen movie, "Red Tails," to be offered as a door prize, during the event, for a winning senior citizen/resident.

Each year, ORAC aims to stimulate conversation among the residents of Gladys B. Jacobs Manor by providing relevant information on issues that affect their families, friends, and communities. Lunch, prepared by the Original Richard Allen members, will be provided to attendees and residents.

The Original Richard Allen Committee, Inc. was founded 23 years ago by a small group of former residents of the Richard Allen housing development, located between 9th and 12th streets and between Fairmount Avenue and Poplar Street, in North Central Philadelphia.
