Synopsis: Understanding the compilation process is crucial to generating the tightest code from your source code. Compiler technology has not yet run its course, and new cutting-edge optimizations have brought enormous savings in execution time and code size. This talk surveys some of my favorite optimizations. Some are old, but highly effective; others are virtually unknown outside the tight knit community of compiler developers. All of them are, in my opinion, quite fascinating.

Synopsis: Though 85 percent of embedded designs use C and C++, these languages are notorious for their inherent lack of safety. Many of the most common sources of errors are unlikely to show up during testing, and may manifest themselves later as costly product glitches. This talk focuses on the tools and techniques that can be used to augment any software-design paradigm. Techniques include coding conventions, automatic run-time error checking, manual compile-time and run-time assertions, static analysis, and the most common mistakes to avoid.

Green Hills will demonstrate a dual-persona, Android-based commercial tablet based on a Freescale i.MX53 Cortex-A8-based SoC based on Green Hills Software's mature INTEGRITY Multivisor™ hypervisor solution. INTEGRITY Multivisor provides a secure and safe virtualized platform for Android and can be configured to support other guest operating systems. It securely separates and assigns peripherals to the proper Android persona and can safely host separate real-time and/or security-critical services.
