As automobiles gain more connectivity, they become more susceptible to security threats that can lead to safety concerns. Imagine if a hacker were to gain access to the engine controller through the infotainment system's Wi-Fi connection. Hypervisors provide virtualization that allows systems to separate the potentially unsecured connections -- such as Wi-Fi -- from the safety-critical features. In this lab, you will learn how a hypervisor works, how to build a solution running both INTEGRITY and Linux on one SoC, and how a failure on the unsecured OS does not affect the safety-critical side of the system.
