Green Manufacturer Marlyn Nutraceuticals Recognized as 2005 Manufacturer of the Year by Arizona Association of Industries

PHOENIX, AZ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 2, 2005 -- The Arizona Association of Industries recognized Marlyn Nutraceuticals, a Phoenix-based manufacturer of enzyme supplements, with the 2005 Manufacturer of the Year award.

"Arizona Association of Industries recognizes exemplary manufacturers annually to demonstrate the best practices in manufacturing and to highlight the importance and diversity of the manufacturing sector in the Arizona economy," said James Tunnell, Vice President of Policy and Operations at Arizona Association of Industries. Manufacturing is a significant driving force in Arizona's economy that accounts for about 177,000 jobs statewide according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

"Marlyn Nutraceuticals represents the complete package in manufacturing. From their exciting product lines to their manufacturing process and management philosophy, this company clearly represents the best of Arizona manufacturing," said James Tunnell, Vice President of Policy and Operations at Arizona Association of Industries.

"We are honored to receive this distinction and hope to continue challenging industry manufacturing standards to produce scientifically-formulated enzyme supplements that capture nature in a bottle," said Marlyn Nutraceuticals CEO, Joe Lehmann.

Marlyn Nutraceuticals is a research-driven company that conducts clinical trials on products even through industry regulations do not require them. "Wobenzym®N, a versatile product used for inflammation and to support the immune system, is backed by 50 years of scientific and clinical research," said Joe Lehmann, CEO. "We design our products to stand the test of time so they can really help people live healthier lives."

"Marlyn's environmental practices were key to their being chosen as AAI's Small Manufacturer of the Year," said James Tunnell, V.P. of Policy and Operations at Arizona Association of Industries. "Marlyn's global earth philosophy and day to day operations display their commitment to environmentally friendly production."

The plant's design incorporates technological features that conserve energy. Solar panels heat the plant's water while a NASA-developed ceramic roof coating protects the plant from excess heat, even during intense Arizona summers. A non-freon air conditioning system cools the facility using only one energy-efficient chiller. Shade trees surrounding the building reduce the need for air conditioning by reducing internal heat up to 10%.

Green manufacturing practices help Marlyn Nutraceuticals to manufacture products that challenge the industry standard to preserve the purity of each product. Although chemicals are commonly used in supplement manufacturing, Marlyn does not use chemical solvents or drying agents in the production of tablets or to sanitize manufacturing areas. Instead, tablets air-dry in a humidity-controlled room and the plant is sanitized using environmentally friendly bio-cleaners.

"Most importantly, our practices ensure that our distinctive enzyme products are superior in quality to support the health of people who use them," said Marlyn Nutraceuticals CEO, Joe Lehmann.
