Green Trucks Roll Into Chicago -- They're Not Your Dad's Prius

At Soldier Field Today: Nation's Largest Collection of Electric & Hybrid Trucks; Ride & Drive for Fleets and Press

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Oct 8, 2013) -

WHAT: 22 electric and hybrid trucks will be available for test drives by fleets and the media at Soldier Field today. The collection of trucks includes a 50,000lb all-electric City of Chicago refuse truck, commercially available hybrid trucks and the world debut of an electric walk-in van. This ride & drive event is part of the High-Efficiency Truck Users Forum (HTUF) national meeting that is occurring this week in Chicago from Oct. 7-9.

WHY: The National HTUF Meeting is being held in Chicago this year because the city has announced the creation of a very significant clean truck purchase incentive program. The 10 million U.S. heavy trucks and buses only comprise 4% of all vehicles, but use 25% of all highway fuel. Replacing just one heavy duty truck with an energy efficient model can have the same impact as swapping 24 hybrid passenger cars.
