Greenberg Traurig Attorney David Weinstein Moderates Panel on Internal Environmental Investigations at National ABA Seminar

TAMPA, FL--(Marketwire - October 15, 2008) - David B. Weinstein, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig's Tampa office, moderated a panel, "Internal Investigations: Ten Tips Every Attorney Should Know Before Starting an Internal Environmental Investigation" at the 16th ABA Environment, Energy, & Resources Section Law Summit. The event was held September 17-20, 2008 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Weinstein's panel included the Director of the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Criminal Enforcement, a Senior Trial Attorney from the Justice Department's Environmental Crimes Section, Senior Environmental Counsel from a major public company, and outside environmental counsel. Panelists discussed how to properly investigate allegations of environmental misconduct, including topics such as retaining outside counsel and experts, working with company employees, determining the scope of the investigation, protecting privilege and work product, safeguarding investigative results, whether any self-reporting obligations have been triggered, and if, when, and how government disclosure should be made.

Weinstein has extensive experience representing public companies and other clients in internal investigations involving environmental and business issues. His practice includes both civil and criminal litigation and trial practice, with an emphasis on environmental, real estate, business, and other complex matters. He is a member of Greenberg Traurig's nationally recognized Environmental and Litigation Practice Groups.

A frequent speaker and writer, Weinstein has authored more than 25 articles and papers, including numerous articles on environmental topics. He currently serves as a Co-Chair of the Criminal Litigation Subcommittee of the ABA Environmental Litigation Committee and a Vice-Chair of the Environmental Enforcement and Crimes Committee of the ABA Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources.
