Greenberg Traurig's Hilarie Bass Selected as an ABA State Delegate

MIAMI, FL--(Marketwire - March 5, 2010) -  Hilarie Bass, Global Operating Shareholder for international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP, has been selected as the State Delegate for the State of Florida in the American Bar Association (ABA). In that position, she will represent the State of Florida on the ABA Nominating Committee. She is currently serving as the Chair-Elect to the ABA Litigation Section and is the Lead Counsel for the Homebuilder Group in the Chinese Drywall MDL pending in New Orleans, La.

Bass' three-year term as State delegate begins at the adjournment of the 2010 annual meeting.

Bass completed an eight-year term as the national chair of Greenberg Traurig's 500-member litigation department. She also serves on the firm's Executive Committee. During her more than 25-year career, she has successfully represented clients in scores of commercial cases in jury and non-jury trials involving hundreds of millions of dollars in controversy. 

Bass' team was named 2009's "Most Effective Lawyers" in Pro Bono by the Daily Business Review. The team was selected for the pro bono representation of two minor boys in a landmark case in which a Florida statute barring gays and lesbians from adopting children was ruled unconstitutional. Also in 2009, she was named among South Florida Business Journal's 2009 Influential Business Women; was the recipient of the 2009 C. Clyde Atkins Civil Liberties Award, presented by ACLU of Florida Greater Miami Chapter; and received the Miami-Dade Florida Association of Women Lawyers' Women Making History Award.
