GreenHouse Partners With IC Systems to Provide Smart Grid Technologies to Southern California Edison and Its Customers

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Jul 11, 2011) - GreenHouse Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB: GRHU) ("GreenHouse"), a leading provider of energy efficiency solutions and sustainable facilities products, today announced a partnership with IC Systems, a provider of industrial monitoring and wide area network (WAN) monitoring equipment headquartered in Irvine, CA. Together, the companies will offer a variety of systems and solutions to Southern California Edison (SCE) and their customers. This includes innovative communications and controls equipment designed to improve the financial and technical feasibility of Automated Demand Response projects.

"We are both pleased and honored to be associated with IC Systems," comments Rob Davis, Vice President, Energy Services at GreenHouse. "IC Systems' innovative combination of readily available technology and proprietary software will play a very large part in our success story as we take Auto-DR to new markets and customer segments." GreenHouse subsidiary Control Engineering, Inc. (CEI) discovered IC Systems while researching cost effective design and implementation alternatives for one of GreenHouse's Auto-DR clients Apogee Containers.

"This is a great example of the character and capabilities found throughout the GreenHouse team," said Russ Earnshaw, President, GreenHouse Holdings. "We are very happy with the leadership, vision and focus Rob and his team demonstrate daily; not to mention the incredible technical acumen CEI has to offer."

Under the terms of the agreement, IC Systems has chosen GreenHouse to be its exclusive distributor for smart grid applications within the SCE territory. This will allow GreenHouse to expand its menu of automation and monitoring components designed to drastically minimize the work disruption that can be a result of implementing Demand Response measures. IC Systems' Smart Grid Technology provides industrial (open source) hardware with universally accepted power industry protocols allowing customers to take advantage of SCE's Auto-DR program.

"There is no doubt in my mind that this partnership will take both companies to previously unforeseen new heights," offered Doug Sheldon, President, IC Systems. "We created GridLink AutoDR® for precisely the same reasons Carlos (Carrillo, Vice President Engineering at GreenHouse Energy / CEI) contacted us in the first place... drive as much of the technology efficiencies and benefits to the consumers as possible." GridLink AutoDR® successfully combines (for the first time) Cloud based connectivity and communications with industrial automation technologies. "These guys are rolling-out something that makes sense and it feels pretty good to be a part of."

About Automated Demand Response

The Auto-DR program offers significant financial incentives and technical support to Southern California Edison customers willing to install equipment that enables participation in demand response events versus depending on their employees to perform all the curtailment activities manually when required. Normally, control systems (automation) are installed with the programming needed to achieve reductions in electricity consumption during peak periods of demand on the grid. "Participants in SCE's Auto-DR program are in 100% control of the actual curtailment measures implemented on an event-to-event basis. Additionally, the systems commonly implemented for Auto-DR participation are fully capable of being used to improve productivity and equipment operating efficiencies as well as provide users with information that can augment routine and emergency operations and maintenance regimens," adds Robert Davis, Vice President of Energy Services at GreenHouse.
