Greenway Family Office Adds Philanthropy and Family Education Specialist

New Partner, Tracey Marshall, Brings Hands-On Civic, Charitable, and Education Expertise

ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwire - January 10, 2011) - For ultra-affluent families, crafting a charitable-giving program goes beyond writing checks to favorite causes and organizations. It involves research, careful planning and coordination. To help guide its family office clients through this philanthropic process, executives with Greenway Family Office announced that the firm has added as a partner Tracey C. Marshall, a former educator and active civic volunteer.

"Tracey's background in education and her impressive track record of working with charitable organizations in the St. Louis area and beyond are a good match for our client families as we work with them to execute their philanthropic vision," said Joan Malloy, Greenway Family Office founder and managing partner. "Tracey's education experience will complement our efforts to help our client families prepare succeeding generations for the wealth that will likely follow. This service is especially important given the fact that the estate tax exemption for couples has increased to $10 million for the next two years."

At Greenway Family Office, Marshall will initially work with the firm's partners to develop and implement individualized philanthropic strategies for each of the company's client families. In addition, she will research, assess and evaluate charities and establish a best practices process for Greenway Family Office and its clients. Long-term, she will create a program designed for next generation family members regarding wealth education and family governance.

"Over three generations, many families lose much of the financial capital that they worked so hard to accumulate and protect, because succeeding generations are not prepared for the responsibilities associated with the wealth," said Malloy. "We believe in bridging generations with age-appropriate information and activities."

The new roles for Marshall are ideally suited to her past professional experience as a middle school educator, and her previous and current work as a civic volunteer. She has served as a board member for several noteworthy charitable enterprises in St. Louis, including the Magic House Children's Museum where she served on the board of directors from 2002 to 2008. During that period, she also worked on the organization's development and education committees, and is currently a member of the friends committee.

In addition to her work with the Magic House, Marshall now sits on the board of trustees for Fontbonne University. Previously, she served on the university's Council of Regents. She also is a member of the development committee for City Academy, a private, independent school that serves urban youth in north St. Louis.

Marshall received both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in secondary education from Fontbonne University.

"This new chapter at Greenway Family Office brings together two of my passions -- education and philanthropy -- and enables me to apply both to my professional career," said Marshall. "I was especially impressed with the holistic approach to wealth and family management that Greenway Family Office takes as it positions its clients' financial capital to support each individual family's goals and philanthropic objectives."

As a partner at Greenway Family Office, Marshall joins founder Malloy, a nationally recognized family advisor who co-founded and was president of the St. Louis Trust Company before starting Greenway Family Office in May.

Other principals at the firm include co-founders Christopher Thompson, a 15-year wealth management and family office veteran, John Tiffin, a 20-year estate planning, probate and trust administration professional, and Laura Fraley, who advises the firm on investment-related matters having previously led Ralston Purina's global retirement investment programs.
