Gregory to Seek Connecticut's 4th Congressional District Seat

NEW CANAAN, CT--(Marketwire - August 3, 2009) - Today, Will Gregory announced he will run for Congress from Connecticut's 4th Congressional District -- challenging incumbent Democrat Jim Himes.

Gregory, 24, has spent the past several months on a listening tour reaching out to members of the community, business leaders, and Republican town committees. "The response has been clear and overwhelming," he said. "The residents of our district are hungry for a new kind of leadership in Washington. They are looking for someone to stand up and fight for them on the issues that matter most, and that's exactly what I plan to do in Congress."

Gregory went on, "I believe we need to reward hard work, entrepreneurship, and innovation. We need to respect taxpayers and rein in the size of government."

In the coming months, Gregory will hold a series of town-hall style Economic Summits, bringing together business leaders and everyday citizens, to discuss the realities facing our economy and how we can promote made-in-Connecticut solutions.

"As your Congressman, I'll make it my job to protect your job. That is why in the coming months, I will be traveling to every corner of the district engaging residents, of all political stripes, in a conversation about the issues facing our community and how we can move America forward together," said Mr. Gregory.

A fiscally conservative, socially moderate Republican, Gregory aims to rebuild the party around a set of principles he believes it has strayed from in recent years. "The Republican Party has lost its way. We allowed ourselves to be steered by groups at the fringes and become an organization of fiscal ambivalence, massive national debt, and larger government. No more."

"We need to return to our best traditions -- individual responsibility, fiscal discipline, and freedom of enterprise -- and begin to engage the independents, moderates, and young voters that have rightly grown disenchanted with our policies and approaches." Gregory continued, "I am stepping forward to fill the void of leadership within the Republican Party and to carry the torch for Yankee Conservatives."

Executive Director of The Mentis Foundation, an Eagle Scout, and a graduate of Oxford University, Will Gregory brings the dynamic solutions, energy, and leadership necessary to strengthen our economy, maximize individual freedom, and move America forward into the 21st Century.
