GridApp Systems Announces Its Latest Advancements With the Introduction of Clarity 3.5

Award-Winning Database Automation Solution Eliminates IT Chaos to Guarantee Predictability

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 13, 2007 -- GridApp Systems, Inc. (www.gridapp.com), the leading provider of database automation software and solutions, today introduced GridApp Clarity™ 3.5, which provides enterprise IT customers with a deeper level of functionality and customization to reduce errors and bring consistency to database processes. The release marks Clarity's continued advancement as the standardization and automation platform engine that helps businesses make better decisions and drive predictability within their enterprise. Recently recognized as an "indispensable tool" for database management in SearchSQLServer.com's Products of the Year, Clarity 3.5 features enhanced patch management, an extensible CMDB, actionable reports, customized workflow management, and broader support for newer database versions.

As database environments continue to become increasingly complex and more chaotic to manage, organizations need help to bring order and efficiency throughout their IT processes. Clarity automates tedious tasks such as auditing, patching, provisioning, and configuration management to significantly ease the drain on valuable IT resources. Clarity 3.5 augments its award-winning capabilities by providing database administrators with even greater capacity to standardize and streamline redundant, manually-intensive tasks, and to derive insight from their data. As a result, enterprises can achieve greater predictability across their database operations to gain bottom line results.

"Clarity's ability to manage change and configurations across the database landscape is critical to creating a truly flexible and agile infrastructure," said Mark Bowker, analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group. "By enabling DBAs to effectively control the deployment, management and scaling of the database infrastructure, organizations can guarantee consistency across their environment, and allow for the rapid deployment of new databases and applications. The end result is better control, improved manageability and significant time and cost savings."

New features in Clarity 3.5 include:

Enhanced Patch Management

Clarity 3.5 quickly auto-detects unpatched database servers and greatly reduces the time to apply each patch. It enables patch policy creation and flexible, user-defined patch deployments to improve security across the entire database infrastructure. Clarity now supports patching and patch rollback (if patching permits) of non-Clarity provisioned databases, and the provisioning and patching of Oracle and SQL Server databases.

Customizable Workflow Management

Clarity 3.5 completely tailors provisioning and patching activities to allow organization-specific methods and standards, promoting IT collaboration and maximizing the ROI of automation. Customers can now automate based on their standards and GridApp's best practices by building custom scripts that are integrated into the provisioning and patching process.

Actionable Reports

Clarity 3.5 enables administrators to create dynamic and customized reports for any information and activities in the CMDB. This includes fast, at-a-glance summary and archival configuration reports, as well as comprehensive reports for inventory, utilization, configurations, patches, Init parameters, and database files. Reports are viewable as comparison or timeline format for better insight and rapid troubleshooting.

Extensible CMDB

The software now provides one centralized interface to easily track and manage critical configurations across all databases, all nodes, and all clusters within complex, heterogeneous environments. Using the interface, administrators can more easily track and manage changes, collect customized tasks, capture a complete audit trail, and automate error-prone tasks such as provisioning, patching, upgrading and updating to better enforce standards and to gain a more accurate understanding of the infrastructure.

Broader Database Support

Clarity 3.5 introduces new support for 64-bit Oracle on Linux and HP-UX 11.23 for Itanium and enhanced support for Oracle Single Instance, Oracle RAC database versions 9i, 10gR1 and 10gR2, and SQL Server 2000 and 2005.

"The release of Clarity 3.5 introduces a deeper level of customization and support, bringing standardization and consistency across decentralized business units," said Matthew Zito, chief scientist at GridApp Systems. "Regardless of your platform, Clarity 3.5 dramatically improves database reliability and promotes collaboration to deliver cost-efficiency in an area of IT commonly overlooked by most CIOs."
