Grimsby Energy Inc. Announces Plans to Develop 1 MW Bioreactor

Town of Grimsby Approves Project to Move Forward

GRIMSBY, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 17, 2009) -

Attention Environment and Energy Editors:

Today, the Mayor of Grimsby, Bob Bentley, announced that Grimsby Energy Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Town of Grimsby, received initial approval to develop a 1 MW Bioreactor for the Town.

"Grimsby wants to be a leader in developing sustainable, community-based, long-term green energy generation," said Mayor Bob Bentley. "This project will be a showcase for municipalities throughout Ontario and Canada."

Grimsby Energy Inc. will design and build a 1 MW generation facility utilizing Bio-Mass reactors, the process of converting agricultural products into the natural, green and renewable gas methane and subsequent generation of electricity.

Grimsby Energy Inc. Chairman, James Detenbeck, presented the proposal to Town Council at a special shareholder meeting held last week.

"Council had challenged Grimsby Energy Inc. with championing green initiatives, and this opportunity clearly hit the mark," explained Detenbeck. "This project, which will be the first of its kind in terms of the technology and scale, will essentially take the Town off-the-grid, by generating more than the Town will use."

Mayor Bentley said that this project represents how a Greenbelt community can find creative and viable solutions for its embattled agricultural community and he outlined other benefits to our town.

"The project, as envisioned, will allow our local agricultural community to remain viable in Grimsby, while providing a long-term financial benefit to the taxpayers of Grimsby," continued Bentley, "We will also be creating green energy jobs and infrastructure in the town."

Detenbeck outlined the next steps for the project.

"Grimsby Energy Inc. will be assessing project needs and, in short order, issuing a Request for Proposal to parties interested in our project" concluded Detenbeck.
