Groovy 60s Fundraiser to Benefit Haitian Moms and Infants

Featuring singer-songwriter Colin Wiebe and comedian Gery Schubert as Austin Powers

CHILLIWACK, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 16, 2012) - "Austin Powers" will emcee a secret agent evening at the Coast Chilliwack Hotel on Oct. 26, with all proceeds benefiting moms and babies living in poverty in Haiti.

Singer-songwriter Colin Wiebe will perform live and share stories about his recent trip to Haiti. Wiebe will also debut the new video for his song, "Heaven Will Be Heaven Again," shot on location at the tent city in Pétionville, Haiti, a suburb of Port-au-Prince. Run by actor Sean Penn's non-governmental organization, the Pétionville camp is home to more than 20,000 quake survivors.

Gery Schubert, known for his clean humour and entertaining antics, will impersonate the international man of mystery. Guests are also encouraged to dress up - in 60s garb or as their favourite spy, villain or secret agent.

Organizers hope to raise enough money to provide education to 50 mothers in Compassion Canada's Child Survival Program. The program supports children in their earliest years, when they are most vulnerable to disease, malnutrition and neglect. Aid workers provide food for malnourished infants and educate mothers in how to care for their children.

In addition to music and comedy, the night includes silent and live auctions as well as appetizers and dessert.
