The Movember Foundation Grows With MOVE as New Way to Participate in 2015

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - September 22, 2015) - Moustache season is around the corner with the launch of the Movember Foundation's annual 2015 Movember campaign. Today the Foundation launches MOVE, a new way for Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate and make a difference. Last year over one million men and women supported the moustache globally, raising an incredible $100 million CAD for men's health. The Foundation is the leading global men's health charity investing in projects addressing prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity. Men and women sign up at and commit to grow a moustache, MOVE, or both. Movember will always be about the moustache, challenging Mo Bros to grow and Mo Sistas to support their hairy efforts, but now thanks to MOVE, everyone can be an active champion of men's health. MOVE is 30-day fitness challenge to raise funds and awareness for men's health. How Canadians MOVE is up to them, from a ping-pong game to a run after work, no MOVE is too big or small to make a difference this Movember. Once signed up Mo Bros and Mo Sistas use their personal Mo Space fundraising page to get friends, family, and colleagues to donate to their hairy and active efforts.

"We're excited to have open and ready for all to sign up. This year we're introducing MOVE as a new way for everyone to participate, men can grow and get their Mo's moving, and women can see their support in action," said Claire Lamont, Country Director, Movember Canada, "2014 was an incredible year and thanks to the continued support from Canadians, and around the world, we're proud to share that we funded our 1000th men's health project globally, but there's still a lot of work to be done."

Throughout the month Mo Bros and Mo Sistas become walking, talking billboards, sparking conversations and raising critical funds that support breakthrough men's health project, with the goal of changing the face of men's health.

  • 1 in 8 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
  • Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young Canadian men aged 15-29
  • 1 in 5 of Canadians will experience a mental health problem each year
  • 3 out of 4 deaths by suicide are men
  • Moving on a regular basis can reduce risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer by up to 50%, and lower risk of early death by up to 30%

"Movember helped my father through his final years with prostate cancer. It kept all of our spirits high as the fundraising continued to give him purpose," said Mo Bro Jared Tessis, "My father is my hero. He's the reason why I started to grow a moustache in 2014 and continue to support Movember today. His legacy will always live on through my involvement."

About the Movember Foundation

The Movember Foundation is a global charity raising funds and awareness for men's health. These funds deliver breakthrough research and support services to allow men to live happier, healthier, longer lives. The Foundation runs awareness and fundraising activities year-round, with the annual Movember campaign in November being globally recognized for its fun and innovative approach to raising money and getting men to take action for their health. During Movember, we challenge men to grow a moustache or to make a commitment to get active and MOVE, both of which are about real action for health and are done to spark conversation and raise vital funds and awareness.
