GS1 Lebanon becomes reseller for Global Traceability Network

BEIRUT, LEBANON and OSLO, NORWAY--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 30 2006) - GS1 Lebanon and TraceTracker today announced a technology and market cooperation. GS1's supply and demand chain standards, and The Global Traceability Network (GTNet) are combined to form a total traceability solution enabling a rapidly deployable, practical solution for traceability.

"This is a great package to help Lebanese businesses, secure their food export to important markets like EU and US," says Sabah Corm, Director of Marketing at GS1 Lebanon.

By combining TraceTracker's globally recognized traceability software, with GS1's proven supply and demand chain standards, this cooperation will offer a completely new and comprehensive solution. It will make it simple and very cost effective for Lebanese companies, to provide traceability to their business partners. This solution will be managed by GS1 Lebanon with support from TraceTracker.

"We are very pleased with this new page in our relationship with GS1. It is a great opportunity for the customer to get the best from two leaders in their respective categories," says Ole-Henning Fredriksen CEO of TraceTracker.

TraceTracker has demonstrated the ability to track movements and information regarding ingredients, products and logistical units. TraceTracker's solutions are proven within complex international value chains, such as Norwegian salmon.

BASF, (NYSE: BF), the largest chemical company in the world is a strong supporter of TraceTracker. Their Fine Chemicals division use the TraceTracker global traceability solution to accurately trace their vitamins and food/feed additives across the value chain.

GS1's supply and demand chain standards capabilities complement those of TraceTracker. GS1 Lebanon will focus on the implementation of GS1 standards in the supply chain to ensure interoperability and security in a global Supply chain, while TraceTracker focuses on the platform and the technical service and support to make the information available. Partnering with TraceTracker was a result of many months of search to identify one unique solution platform valid for different markets. This will allow Lebanese businesses to focus on their processes advances and improvements instead of focusing on technology improvement that is just a tool for them and not an aim.

Several pilot projects are planned for the 2006. GS1 Lebanon is collaborating with the Local Food Industry Association and the Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI) to identify the pilots to be processed.
