This prestigious honor is in addition to Target naming GSC its 2009 Target Deconsolidator of the Year in April 2010.
This award is part of Target's Commitment to Quality program, which identifies standards and measures the performance of transportation carriers/importers who service the company's 27 distribution centers and 1,750 stores across the country.
Target cited GSC's can-do customer service attitude, which they said resonated throughout the entire GSC team. This included a demonstrated desire to exceed Target's expectations through process improvement, cross-functional training, and support initiatives.
In addition to successfully processing Target's import freight, the company also reported that GSC showed a measurable commitment to excellence in leveraging its intermodal equipment to combine both imports and domestic shipments into the Northern California and Western Nevada markets. Because of these efforts, GSC earned Target's top overall score on the company's deconsolidator scorecard in 2009.
Another notable accomplishment is GSC's well-established partnerships in its marketplace, which have greatly benefited Target in various situations such as late-arriving freight or congested terminals. In addition, Target commended GSC for its strategic partnership and pivotal role in the development of the Port of Oakland's clean truck program, which is aimed at reducing carbon emissions to improve air quality.
