GT Nexus Adds Truck TMS Capabilities to Platform

Customers Already Live With Cloud-Based Freight Spend Management Solution

OAKLAND, CA--(Marketwire - January 11, 2011) - GT Nexus today announced that new capabilities designed to support road transportation are now fully deployed, and in use by its global customers. Delivered as a cloud-based service over the Web, the new truck capabilities link and extend GT Nexus' market-leading ocean and air spend management services.

"We have used GT Nexus to support our international transportation for some years," said Dennis Melgert, strategic sourcing manager, logistics at Celanese Corporation. "With the truck capabilities, we can now procure and manage truck services on the same core platform we use for international transportation. The process efficiencies and savings we have seen are significant."

"Supporting large shipper customers across every vertical, GT Nexus has become an industry standard for ocean and air transportation management," said John Urban, president of GT Nexus. "While we have always supported all transport modes for visibility, customers asked us to extend the solution so they could manage their truck spend on the same platform. I am happy to report that this solution is battle tested, in use at several customers, and commercially available to the market."

Managing truck rates and enforcing service compliance is a notoriously complex problem. When shippers cannot get clear and immediate access to truck rates, they are unable to efficiently manage their trucking operations. That's because, when rate information falls out of date and becomes hard to find, the risk of tendering the shipment with the wrong carrier rises significantly. This drives up costs, impacts services and disrupts plans.

GT Nexus addresses the spend management challenge by providing a central, secure, cloud-based repository for contract and rate information, which supports ocean, air and truck transportation. Users access the platform through a standard Web browser, to retrieve and compare routes, rates and service metrics across carriers.

The truck capabilities are merged with the ocean and air data management functions to deliver an end-to-end freight spend control platform that spans those transport modes. With centralization of this crucial information, shippers can automate procurement, optimization, contract management, visibility, execution and audit operations.

"We have had the truck solution live for a few weeks now and the workload required to manage our network has significantly dropped," added Melgert.

Like all GT Nexus capabilities, the freight contracting solution is delivered as a fully-hosted, cloud technology service. All customers and their partners share a single platform, where information exchange is customized to each partner's privacy needs. The active partner network includes the top ten 3PLs and the top 30 ocean carriers, along with a large number of truck and rail providers and thousands of suppliers. GT Nexus cloud supply chain services also include in-transit visibility, supply chain finance, supplier enablement and landed cost automation.
