GTA Cyclists Will Hit the Road for Ride for Karen, Raising Money to Send Children With Cancer to Camp

Scotiabank Has Supported Ride for Karen Since 2005, Which Allows for 100% of Money Raised to Support Children Living With Cancer and Their Families

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - September 08, 2015) - Hundreds of cyclists will take to the roads this Sunday as part of Ride for Karen, an annual cycling event that raises money to support children living with cancer. With 25 km, 100 km and 160 km routes, the ride winds through the countryside north of Toronto passing through Aurora, Markham, Newmarket and Uxbridge. Additionally, there's a Kids Fun Ride at the Markham Fair Grounds, which allows the whole family to get involved and raise money for a good cause.

100% of money raised through Ride for Karen goes towards charities that provide programs for children with cancer and their families, such as Camp Quality, Camp Oochigeas and Camp Trillium. Since it began in 2002, the event has raised more than $2,150,000 to help build and furnish new cancer care facilities, provide much needed resources for cancer support centres and send kids with cancer to camp. The ride was founded by Kirk and Kris Tobias as a tribute to their mother Karen Tobias who passed away from breast cancer.
