GuardianEdge Announces Record Results in 2008

Company Continues Rapid Growth in 2008 With Approximately 30 Percent Revenue Growth; Sees Demand for Removable Media Protection; Releases Next Generation of Flagship GuardianEdge Data Protection Products

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - February 12, 2009) - GuardianEdge, the leader in endpoint data protection, today announced strong 2008 results, setting the stage for a successful 2009. The company grew its revenue by approximately 30 percent in 2008 -- fueled by the availability of the next generation of GuardianEdge's flagship product GuardianEdge Hard Disk Encryption and the increase in demand for removable storage protection solutions such as GuardianEdge Removable Storage Encryption and GuardianEdge Device Control. The company celebrated one of the largest customer wins in the data protection market and announced an OEM agreement with Symantec. GuardianEdge accomplishments were also recognized by the receipt of numerous corporate and customer accolades, including placement in the leadership quadrant of the 2008 Gartner Mobile Data Protection Magic Quadrant and the Red Herring 100 North America award.

"GuardianEdge has become a leader in protecting data on end-user devices. With a laser-like focus on enterprise endpoint data protection for more than a decade, we have developed a profound familiarity with the overall IT security market and the needs of the largest organizations," said Alan Fudge, CEO of GuardianEdge. "This in-depth understanding of the industry is evident in our 2008 attained milestones and sets the stage for our continued growth in 2009. Despite current economic conditions, the deployment of data protection measures is still top of mind with U.S. organizations. This awareness, combined with the new threats presented by the increasing use of Smartphones and removable storage devices will continue to drive the growth of endpoint data protection deployments and our organization."

Anticipating and responding to the changing security needs of today's enterprises was of primary importance for GuardianEdge in 2008. With the release of new versions of the GuardianEdge Removable Storage Encryption and GuardianEdge Hard Disk Encryption solutions, GuardianEdge offered single console data protection management for Microsoft Active Directory, Novell eDirectory and all other non-domain machines. Enhanced GuardianEdge Removable Storage Encryption functionality allows users with the appropriate credentials to securely take data home, work on the encrypted files, and re-encrypt the data on the removable media device even when GuardianEdge technology is not installed on their personal system.

Direct GuardianEdge integration with the Symantec Altiris® Total Management Suite™ software was also enabled in 2008 with the announcement of the GuardianEdge Altiris Connector. In addition, the GuardianEdge Advanced Authentication solution was released for strong multi-factor authentication and the complete GuardianEdge Data Protection Platform obtained Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL) 4 certification. In 2008, GuardianEdge also experienced amplified demand for its GuardianEdge Removable Storage Encryption and GuardianEdge Device Control products from existing GuardianEdge Hard Disk Encryption customers seeking to address the growing need for removable media protection. Overall, this was due to an increase in workforce mobility and the number of personal devices such as Smartphones, iPods, and USB devices, etc. being introduced into the enterprise environment.

These product innovations prompted enterprises, government agencies and defense departments to select GuardianEdge solutions to protect critical corporate information on laptops, desktops and removable storage devices. New GuardianEdge customers include: Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd. (ANZ), Children's Hospital & Health System, Founder's Bank & Trust, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Providence Health & Services, Southwest Washington Medical Center, The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services, The Hertz Corporation, Trion, and University of Louisville.

"Data security continues to rank among the top priorities on our agenda. It is our belief that because our students and faculty invest their trust in us, that the protection of the sensitive information we collect is imperative to maintaining that confidence," said Brenda Gombosky, director of Information Technology, Enterprise Security for the University of Louisville. "While we evaluated a number of data loss prevention solutions offered by large companies, GuardianEdge's focus on endpoint data protection for the enterprise stood out during our evaluation. GuardianEdge is committed to providing solutions that are easy to manage, that significantly decrease help desk requests and provides a premium level of protection."

Last year also marked the beginning of a GuardianEdge OEM agreement with Symantec, with the flagship GuardianEdge Hard Disk Encryption and GuardianEdge Removable Storage products included with Symantec Endpoint Security Solutions. This agreement expanded the reach of GuardianEdge solutions into additional countries in Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

These milestones were recognized by the industry, with GuardianEdge positioned in the leaders quadrant of the 2008 Gartner Mobile Data Protection Magic Quadrant 2008. The company's ongoing innovation and execution against business goals was also recognized by the Red Herring 100 and Inc. 5000 awards. In addition, several GuardianEdge customers received recognition for their security programs and incorporation of the GuardianEdge Data Protection Platform into their ongoing security practices. The California Department of Health Care Services was recognized for best practices in protecting the privacy of patient data on laptop computers, and was awarded both the CIO 100 Award and the Network World's 2008 Enterprise All-Star Award.
