GuardianEdge, ISSA and Spire Security to Discuss Mobile Device Security

"The Truth About Securing Mobile Devices" eSeminar to Be Held August 11, 2009

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - August 6, 2009) -

WHO: Participants in the eSeminar include Pete Lindstrom, research director with Spire Security; Randy V. Sabett, J.D., CISSP, partner at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP; and Joe Gow, senior director of product management for GuardianEdge. Dr. Pamela Fusco, director of Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) International, will moderate the panel.

WHAT: GuardianEdge, the leader in enterprise endpoint data security, and the ISSA will host the eSeminar, titled "The Truth about Securing Mobile Devices." Each of the panelists will combine their knowledge and years of experience working in the industry to present a well-rounded picture of what enterprises should know about mobile end user device security. Attendees to the eSeminar will learn how to centrally manage the protection of all mobile devices, identify security risks specific to Smartphones, and curb data leakage through camera and voice recorder features.

Lindstrom's discussion will focus on mobile security and the risks associated with mobility: use cases, asset value, and attack surface. He will also provide a process for assessing security needs of mobile devices and make recommendations for managing risks.

To address the need for mobile device security within enterprise organizations' IT strategy, Sabett will focus on several key issues from a legal standpoint, highlighting the liability and ramifications of compromised data for all stakeholders. The discussion will include information about security liability, export compliance, and issues that arise at the U.S. border.

Gow will provide insight into securing mobile devices in the enterprise and how Smartphones and other mobile devices pose security risks to your organization. Smartphones, most of which have downloaded emails, and potentially other sensitive data, are increasingly targeted for theft or malware attacks, which may result in corruption of data on the device, or even worse, sensitive data being sent to others. Gow will show how organizations can address these security risks, without interfering with the productivity gains afforded by these devices.

WHERE: The eSeminar will be held via GoTo Meeting. Attendees can register for the eSeminar here.

WHEN: The event will be held August 11, 2009 at 9 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT)/ 12 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). For more information on the eSeminar, please click here.
