GuestLogix' Next-Generation Payment Sleeves for Smartphones and Tablets Awarded PCI Certification for Chip and PIN

Company's Payment Peripherals Certified for EMV Transactions as Well as Magnetic Stripe and Contactless Transactions for All Mobile Operating Systems

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 9, 2014) - GuestLogix Inc. (TSX:GXI), the leading global provider of ancillary-focused merchandising, payment and business intelligence technology to airlines and the passenger travel industry, today announced that it has been granted PCI-PTS 4.x certification, specifically as it relates to its next-generation payment peripherals for use with smartphones and tablets on all mobile operating systems. The issuance of PCI, EMV L1, EMV L2 and TQM Certification means that the Company's new mobile payment sleeves will be able to securely accept Chip & PIN in addition to magnetic stripe and contactless payments. These certifications will also enable airline, rail and lounge crew to use consumer-grade mobile devices in a multi-purpose fashion, such as for accessing crew manuals, in addition to using these devices for retailing purposes. This announcement reflects the Company's ongoing commitment to developing the most innovative and secure retail solutions for the passenger travel industry.

"These certifications recognize the security and complexity of our unique payment technology for use with smartphones and tablets," said Brett Proud, President & CEO, GuestLogix. "Our next edition of PCI-compliant payment sleeves will be GuestLogix' first peripheral of its type to offer EMV capabilities, such as Chip & PIN acceptance. We have already received overwhelming interest from our customers and the passenger travel industry at large, regarding these EMV-ready payment solutions, and we look forward to enhancing the security and convenience of payments made at onboard and off board touchpoints throughout the travel journey."

The use of payment sleeves to support GuestLogix' retail platform for smartphones and tablets operating iOS, Android and Windows Phone systems, have become an increasingly popular choice for global airline, rail and lounge operators. Current sleeves offer PCI-compliant payment processing via magnetic stripe and are contactless-ready, and the Company's new edition of sleeves will enable operators to also accept Chip & PIN payments in a secure and reliable fashion, leading to improvements in overall performance and the passenger experience. Operators can also expect to benefit from improvements in crew efficiency, as consumer-grade smartphone and tablet capabilities may be utilized while the payment sleeve is in use.

"This is a very exciting achievement for GuestLogix and will positively impact the Company's ability to serve the dynamic and evolving needs of the passenger travel industry," said Narayanan Raman, VP Payments and Compliance, GuestLogix. "Once again, GuestLogix has secured its place at the forefront of innovation, introducing next-generation solutions that meet the most stringent payment security guidelines on a global scale. As we continue to lead the ancillary revenue revolution, we remain focused on developing technology solutions that ease pain points and enhance performance for passenger travel operators and their customers."

GuestLogix' 90 payment and operational certifications make it the most accredited retail technology provider in the industry. In addition, the Company has been issued two patents to date, further substantiating and protecting the unique qualities of its technology. GuestLogix was issued its first U.S. patent in December 2012(1), protecting the Company's technology platform as it relates to the sale of products and services via a mobile POS device that are linked to specific travel vehicles, such as an aircraft. The Company's second U.S. patent was issued in July 2014(2), protecting the Company's technology for use in monetizing personal devices used by passengers within travel vehicles. The patent also protects the process, methodologies and technologies that provide targeted or personalized offerings being pushed to passengers within these mobile retail environments.
