Where to Watch The Labor Day Fireworks Show

South Lake Tahoe has numerous locations that are perfect for watching the Labor Day weekend fireworks extravaganza. The area's famous pyrotechnic display occurs on Sunday, August 31st after dusk. The fireworks explode in unison with a music broadcast played on KOWL AM 1490 and KLRT FM 93.9. The show starts at 8:30 pm and the exhibition can be seen from nearly any vantage point in town.

For the best view, head on out to the lake aboard one of the two South Shore Mississippi paddlewheelers, the M.S. Dixie II and the Tahoe Queen. Or take it all in from Nevada beach, just a few miles to the east of the Elk Point Road casinos. Enjoy a family barbecue here during the day and stay through the night for the fireworks. Sample the Sierra: Be sure to check out "Sample The Sierra", a culinary event that combines the talents and creations of local eateries with local farmers. They provide tasty food samples along with complimentary beer and wine. Watch three of the area's elite chefs face off in the Sierra Chef's Challenge to see who can prepare the best dish. The Concerts At Commons Beach: Music fans will want to check out the uber popular Concerts At Commons Beach in downtown Tahoe City's Commons Beach park. This music event features local and national acts including Joy & Madness and Groove Foundry. The venue is found right by the Lake Tahoe Dam and can be accessed from Highway 28. It takes place on the afternoon of Sunday, August 31 and admission is free. The show will begin around 3 or 4. Labor Day Cruise: Board the Tahoe Gal on September 1 at 5:30 PM to partake in the lake's yearly end of summer fundraiser. The cruise features amazing panoramas, a lovely dinner and dessert. All money raised is put towards supplies for the area's libraries.
