Gulf Ethanol Announces Third-Generation Technology

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - September 15, 2008) - Gulf Ethanol Corporation (PINKSHEETS: GFET) announced today the implementation of its third-generation feedstock pre-processing unit. "With each development of the technology, we become more efficient in our processing," noted Bill Carmichael, Gulf's President.

Gulf is now expanding its testing protocols beyond sorghum and corn to sawdust, switchgrass and grass clippings. The company feels each of these feedstocks has potential application for ethanol production. "As we test and improve on our technology, we develop slightly different configurations and protocols for each feedstock due to its inherent characteristics," Mr. Carmichael noted.

"By November, we plan to complete the initial testing and begin design of a full-scale commercial processing unit," he concluded.
