Gulf Ethanol Completes Phase 1 Design

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - August 18, 2008) - Gulf Ethanol Corporation (PINKSHEETS: GFET) has now completed the Phase 1 design enhancements to its cellulosic pre-processing unit. The unit is now back at the company's R&D facility ready for product testing to begin again this week. The cellulosic feedstock pre-processing unit is designed to process rough feed stocks into tiny particles. This increases yield and makes cellulosic materials much easier to handle and process into ethanol.

"As with the design of any new, breakthrough technology, we expect to continue to improve and modify the engineering design of our feedstock pre-processor in order to improve its performance," noted Bill Carmichael, GFET's President. "We expect this technology to allow researchers and industry partners to more efficiently and more quickly bring cellulosic ethanol to the market. This will reduce the cost of ethanol and reduce the pressure corn ethanol creates of food prices," he concluded.
