Guyana Goldfields Inc.: Aurora Exploration Update-70m @ 5.29 g/t Au

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 14, 2007) - Guyana Goldfields Inc. (TSX:GUY) -

The Company is pleased to report highlights of eight diamond drill holes from at its' 100% owned Aurora Property, Guyana.

Rory's Knoll

The Company currently has two diamond drill rigs committed to exploring and delineating the deeper sections as well as probing the gaps at the shallower parts of the Rory's Knoll mineralized zone utilizing the Devico™ directional drilling technology. This program is designed to explore for continuity of gold mineralization from surface to a vertical depth of 1200 metres and to position acceptable data density for resource calculation.

RKD-63B, 67A, and 67B are directional holes cut from mother hole RKD-60 (231m @ 3.18 g/t Au). Hole RKD-63B tested the northwestern sector of the mineralized zone at vertical depths down to 800 metres below surface. This hole returned intersections of 57 metres at 1.26 g/t Au and 20 metres at 2.73 g/t Au.

Hole RKD-67B is a re-drill of the aborted RKD-67A. Both holes tested the central portion of the mineralized zone within vertical depths of between 550 and 650 metres below surface. A significant mineralized core length of 146 metres grading 2.93 g/t Au was intersected including multiple higher grade zones of 6.29 g/t Au over 16 metres, 10.54 g/t Au over 14 metres, and 26 g/t Au over 4 metres.

Diamond drill holes RKD-66, 69 and 71 are directional cuts from mother hole RKD-62 (231m @ 3.18 g/t Au). Hole RKD-66 tested the northwestern edge of mineralization at vertical depths down to 1025 metres below surface. It encountered a significant mineralized zone of 70 metres at 5.29 g/t Au including multiple higher grade zones of 11.04 g/t Au over 12 metres and 13.35 g/t Au over 14 metres and another high grade zone of 4.69 g/t Au over 17 metres hosted in rhyolite tuff.

Hole RKD-69 tested northeast sector of the mineralization between vertical depths of 925 and 1025 metres below surface. A mineralized intercept was encountered grading 1.26 g/t Au over 69 metres.

Hole RKD-71 tested the western part of the mineralized zone at vertical depths down to around 960 metres below surface. A significant core length of 174.80 metres grading 2.02 g/t Au was intersected including multiple higher grade zone of 5.07 g/t Au over 6 metres, 6.12 g/t Au over 10 metres, and 5.30 g/t Au over 6 metres.

RKD-68C and 65 probed the southern edges of mineralization at vertical depths from 230 to 570 metres below surface. Hole RKD-68C returned 92 metres at 2.14 g/t Au with higher grade intersections of 6.73 g/t Au over 12 metres and 5.34 g/t Au over 8 metres.

Hole RKD-65 skirted through the southern limit of the zone and hence did not return any significant grades.
