Gyrotron Technology Inc. Files Provisional Patent for Rapid Joining of Different Layers of Non- Metallic Materials

Technology Expected to Provide Significant Process Improvements to Multi-Billion Dollar Automotive Interior Market

BENSALEM, PA--(Marketwired - September 22, 2016) - Gyrotron Technology Inc. (OTC PINK: GYTI), an industrial process technology company, has filed a provisional patent application for a new method of rapidly joining different layers of non-metallic materials while controlling the temperature of the materials being joined. This new method utilizes the gyrotron, a very powerful source of high-frequency microwave energy.

Dr. Vlad Sklyar, GTI President stated, "We are pleased to announce this potential addition to our patent portfolio, as the innovation has both broad applications as well as targeted purposes within the multi-billion dollar automotive industry. We expect the technology to provide multiple process improvements in the production of interior assemblies for automotive vehicles by reducing the time for the forming process by an order of magnitude while maintaining material integrity of the layers being joined, significantly reducing energy consumption and other production costs. It also may allow greater automation of certain production processes."

GTI presently holds six US patents covering multiple industry developments, and a number of patent and provisional patent applications. Four of the issued patents relate to novel uses of the gyrotron;

  • Glass: US Patent 6,408,649 - Method for rapid thermal treatment of glass & glass-like materials using microwave radiation.
  • Semiconductors: US Patent 6,423,605 - Method and apparatus for forming ultra-shallow junction for semiconductor device.
  • Plastics: US Patent 6,368,994 - Rapid processing of organic materials using short wavelength microwave radiation.
  • Critical Technical Aspects of Gyrotron Processing: US Patent 6,424,090 - Modification of millimetric wavelength microwave beam power distribution.
