HACKER SAFE Boosts Search Engine Optimization With Free Page Rank 6-8 Links

Links Worth Thousands of Dollars Annually, According to Link Rating Services

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 12, 2007 -- Search Engine Strategies New York -- Websites using ScanAlert's HACKER SAFE® trustmark have discovered that the popular security certification service improves search engine optimization (SEO), boosting their search engine rankings. Three one-way Page Rank (PR) 6-8 text links from ScanAlert's HACKER SAFE Merchant Directory, considered an authority site by the major search engines, as well as one reciprocal PR 7 link, help sites achieve higher organic (unpaid) placement in search results.

Once a merchant is HACKER SAFE certified, they are automatically entered into the HACKER SAFE Merchant Directory, which is visited by tens of thousands of shoppers every day. Although ScanAlert provides the links for free, their market value according to link rating websites, ranges from several hundreds, to thousands of dollars per month. Text Links Ads, for example, values them at more than $450 per month, while estimates from other rating services such as Link Value are much higher -- reaching several thousands of dollars per month.

The SEO boost is in addition to the substantial increases in landing page and overall site conversion reported by HACKER SAFE certified websites. Documented by more than 600 retailers, these increases typically range from 4%-8% for national chain store brands like Foot Locker and Restoration Hardware, to 10%-25% for smaller sites. Multichannel retailer Vermont Teddy Bear and home and garden organizer Stacks and Stacks have both documented impressive ROI numbers.

Search ranking and conversion rates both improved for Vermont Teddy Bear and its sister site, Pajamagram, after subscribing to HACKER SAFE. In A/B split testing, HACKER SAFE delivered 8.9% higher conversion for its, and 12.3% for its sites. In addition, the SEO impact of the HACKER SAFE Merchant Directory links was a big surprise, according to Vermont Teddy Bear's Ecommerce Manager Bill Cronin.

"This was a terrific discovery that has helped boost our overall organic search results," Cronin said. "HACKER SAFE has worked for everyone whom I have ever been involved with -- whether as a consultant or marketing teddy bears. The ROI is really there, and conversion rates do increase."

Stacks and Stacks is an Internet Retailer Top 500 source of organizational products for home, office, and garden, whose profile among top search engines has also risen. "Obtaining HACKER SAFE Merchant Directory links was an unexpected benefit, and one of the reasons why we rank very high organically for our most important keywords," noted Stacks and Stacks Marketing Director Cathy McManus. "We're currently receiving a PAGE RANK-8 link for free from an authority site, which is just one more reason why HACKER SAFE has become a must-have for anyone serious about online retailing success."
