Halogen Media Group Expands Executive Team to Build on Leadership Position in Authentic Media

Company's Expertise in Engaging Passionate and Affluent Influencers Has Become a Critical Asset in the Changing Landscape of Digital Media

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - February 23, 2011) - Halogen today announced the addition of four senior executives including Peter C. Horan, as executive chairman. The appointments enable the company to more broadly leverage its expertise and vision for authentic media.

Positioned at the nexus of the rapidly evolving advertising and media industries, Halogen defines authentic media as content whose creation and socialization are driven by passion and influence rather than editorial assignment, SEO, or top-down media models. Halogen curates highly engaged and influential online audiences, creates experiential marketing programs to break through the online clutter, and facilitates the megaphone of social influence among affluent and emerging affluent consumers.

As part of the expansion, Peter C. Horan has joined the company as executive chairman. Peter is one of the industry's most successful and innovative executives, consistently creating businesses where both consumers and marketers thrive. Under his leadership as CEO, About.com became one of the fastest-growing properties online, leveraging the power of search for both monetization and audience development. He led the sale of the company to the New York Times Company for $410 million in 2005. He then led the re-launch of AllBusiness.com, which was acquired by Dun & Bradstreet. As former CEO of IAC Media & Advertising, Peter oversaw Ask.com, Citysearch, and IAC Mobile, among other properties. He sits on the board of directors of the Interactive Advertising Bureau, and was formerly on the board of directors of the Online Publishers Association.

"I have enjoyed the greatest success when I've been part of a team that delivers the first response to a major, underlying change in the market. Today's top brands demand marketing solutions that bridge advertising and the authentic social web. Halogen offers some of the smartest and most innovative solutions in this area," said Horan. "Halogen will help marketers leverage the true power of online media: the passion sparked when real people connect around genuine interests and experiences."

Other executive additions include Brian Eakin as vice president of digital strategy, Peter Gregovich as CFO, and Ed Ortega as director of creative solutions. Brian has a long tenure in digital media working at CBSi, PHD, Freestyle Interactive & Carat. Peter was previously a finance executive with CNET Networks, AllBusiness.com, and Dunn & Bradstreet's Internet Solutions division. Ed co-founded Fireplug Labs, a pioneering interactive agency in 1996, and has been creating compelling consumer experiences for companies like Sony, Gap, Herman Miller and MoMA ever since.

"I'm thrilled that both Peters, Brian, and Ed have joined the Halogen team at this key moment," said Halogen Media Group CEO, Greg Shove. "The time is now for both our company and our industry, and their unique talents and perspectives will be instrumental as we deliver the authentic media expertise and programs that are now a 'must-have' component of any prestige brand's plan."
